Trisura is proud to have recently sponsored an initiative aimed at providing fresh water for millions of people in need, a luxury we take for granted as a first world country.

Stephen Mallory of Directors Global Insurance Brokers Ltd, leads the charge after learning of the Water for Life Initiative. “$8,500 can buy 1,000 people clean water for 25 years,” said Mr. Mallory. “In Canada, we are fortunate people, and we take water for granted…this project has been very inspiring.”

Mr. Mallory integrated his musical talents into the pledge. His project, The Cherry Trees Band, recorded an album based on the Water for Life Initiative and are selling it on iTunes and Cdbaby for $10. All proceeds go to the Water for Life Initiative run by the Global Aid Network.

Most recently, Mr. Mallory and the Cherry Trees Band hosted an event at Hugh’s Room in downtown Toronto on November 23rd, which ended up being a sold out show with standing room only. At the beginning of the night, the goal was announced: $25,500 from fundraising and donations. This amount would provide three wells that would produce fresh water for 3000 people. At the end of the night, over $38,000 had been raised, including a $5,000 donation from Trisura (Mike George and Stephen Mallory pictured above).

Mr. Mallory, now charged with the support of his peers, aims to keep the momentum going on raising awareness and funds – to the tune of $42,500. He’s vowed that the campaign will continue until this new goal is reached.
