Spreading Good Cheer

Given the time of year, I recently had a chance to sit down to watch my all-time favourite Christmas cartoon, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the classic 1966 adaptation of the children’s book by Dr. Seuss.  No, not the more recent Hollywood interpretations, the original real McCoy.  Guess I was around 3 when it first came out, and although at first terrified by the Grinch, I have always enjoyed both the cartoon and the message of the importance of Christmas spirit ever since.

It doesn’t matter where you are from, or what your faith is, or whether you even celebrate Christmas, or another equivalent tradition. The central theme of the Grinch, or the similar message of the 1843 Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol, is really about goodwill towards others:  being generous, kind, charitable, forgiving, spreading joy and good cheer,  all of which are actions we have the ability to control.   Whatever your belief, this time of year is a wonderful opportunity to be reminded of how important these are as the foundation for building a caring and welcoming community. We can each do our part.

 

Slow Down and be Grateful

That message should be of utmost importance to everyone, yet, sadly it seems to me to be slowly eroding.  Maybe it’s the increased stress in our lives, but we all seem to be rushing about looking after ourselves and less about our community.  I fear we’re becoming more Grinch-like in the process.

This is such a good time to slow down, take stock of our circumstance, and be grateful for what we have and who we are.

 

The “No Grinch Allowed” Policy

It makes me think about our efforts here at Trisura since we started the company 13 years ago.  We have worked hard to build a supportive culture that puts you first, because we realize that without you, we have no business.  Our noble purpose is to deliver exceptional experiences to all  our stakeholders based on developing long and deep mutually beneficial relationships.   We have embraced what we feel are meaningful core values and guiding principles to ensure we stay on the right track.   We care about you and your business, we listen to your point of view and we work to find solutions.  We want you to be successful and want to help you achieve success.  We have a “no-jerks allowed” hiring policy (AKA a “no-Grinch allowed” policy) and we try to make an active and positive contribution to our community.

Thank you – we are so fortunate and grateful that you have embraced our approach.   We very much appreciate your support.  I feel like the reformed Grinch, when he got to carve the roast beast.
