Members of Trisura staff and representatives from eight Ontario insurance brokerages carved up the ice in Fort Erie and Port Colborne, Ontario the weekend of March 27-29th for the 34th annual Ontario General Insurance Hockey Tournament. Teams congregated to arenas where the good old hockey game became an avenue to serve a higher cause, as it often does in this great country.

The tournament, which started in 1981 and is organized by local insurance brokers and claims adjusters, is the largest hockey tournament in the insurance industry. Over the years, the event has expanded significantly from its humble beginnings as a 16 team affair to today, when up to 40 teams lace up and skate on.

Trisura dressed two squads to make the journey. Although the games were spirited affairs, neither team was able to make it to the finals. Despite this, our players enjoyed the opportunity to don the green and white jerseys, proudly bearing the Trisura logo across their chests. A big congratulations to all the winners of their respective divisions for taking home the glory this year.

Proceeds from the OGI tournament have been donated to local charities for underprivileged children for 11 years, primarily the organization Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Niagara, Camp McGovern. To date, donations have exceeded $370,000. The lives of hundreds of children have been enriched thanks to the generosity of those participating in the tournament and its major sponsors.
