Both job sites serve as the location for community housing projects already in progress. At this stage of construction, our Habitat for Humanity volunteers were asked to assist with interior housing work such as insulating, dry-walling, and sealing.
One of the ways Habitat for Humanity functions as an effective charitable organization is through hands-on work. Volunteer builders have a chance to literally and figuratively support the foundation of community housing projects. Whether it’s driving in the final nails, or donating funds to lay the concrete; Trisura highly recommends supporting this great organization. It is a safe and fun environment for corporate teams to lend a hand…with no previous construction experience required!
All the participants from Trisura enjoyed stepping away from their desks for the day, working together through a different medium. The optimism brought to the job-site at the beginning of the day developed into a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction by the end. What happened on Habitat day was more than just teamwork; it was education, experience gained, and community building in more than one sense.
Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area (Habitat GTA) and Habitat pour l’humanité (HFHC) are non-profit housing organizations that mobilize volunteers and community partners to provide affordable housing and promote homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty. By owning their own home, families are able to achieve greater stability, and improve their overall health, while building equity for their future. Trisura continues to be a proud supporter of Habitat for Humanity, and looks forward to future opportunities to collaborate in serving Canadian communities.
