Senior Underwriter/Team Lead, Specialty Lines - Toronto

We are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our dedicated, forward thinking group of Specialty Insurance underwriters in our Toronto office.    

SENIOR UNDERWRITER / TEAM LEAD, SPECIALTY LINES - TORONTO  

The successful candidate will be responsible to manage and grow Trisura’s Professional Liability portfolio in Central Canada by building and fostering relationships with new and existing broker clients, and working with Trisura’s team of specialty underwriters.  

The ideal candidate for this role is collaborative and self-motivated, with in-depth knowledge of the product lines and the drive to bring them to market. Specifically, you will be responsible for both marketing and underwriting our suite of Specialty Insurance Solutions products including Professional Liability (miscellaneous, technology, cyber, and media) and Business office package policies, and you will take on a leadership role within the Specialty Insurance team.

Accountabilities include:

  • Representing our Specialty Insurance Solutions team across Ontario and Manitoba
  • Marketing and sourcing new business opportunities
  • Managing and building a portfolio of Specialty Insurance accounts specifically in Professional Liability Establishing and maintaining broker relationships
  • Providing leadership, support and guidance to the underwriting team
  • Conduct underwriting audits and work with the team to ensure consistency in underwriting  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree or post-secondary education in business, communication, marketing, or insurance preferred
  • 6+ years experience underwriting specialty lines (E&O, Technology, Cyber, and Media policies preferred)
  • Bilingual in French and English an asset

Operations Assistant, Specialty Lines - Toronto

OPERATIONS ASSISTANT SPECIALTY INSURANCE SOLUTIONS (NATIONAL)  

The Operations Assistant will be an integral member of the National Specialty Insurance Solutions team and will have responsibility and accountability to provide a full range of operational support to the underwriting team from coast to coast. This diverse role will require someone with superior customer service and exemplary organizational capabilities.

Accountabilities

  • Set up new programs in the underwriting system
  • Timely and accurate invoicing for multiple programs
  • Close collaboration with Accounting and IT to ensure premium bordereaux are reconciled efficiently and accurately
  • Issuance of various forms of policy documentation
  • Orderly maintenance of electronic filing in the document management system
  • Maintenance of our broker contact system  
  • Involved in the maintenance of policy forms, endorsement and application forms
  • Generate reports and review for accuracy for distribution
  •  Manage and distribute incoming communication Assist underwriters across Canada in delivering exceptional service to our clients  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree, Commerce or Business Administration preferred
  • Minimum 1-2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Bilingual French / English an asset
  • Insurance industry experience an asset

ANALYST, RISK SOLUTIONS - TORONTO


As part of the Risk Solutions team, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for processing and reconciling premium production reports, claims reports, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

As an integral member of the team, you will bring:

  • Good knowledge of basic accounting concepts

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization

  • Efficiency working as a part of a team, or independently, as required

  • Proven organizational skills, and strong time-management abilities

  • Strong attention to detail in all areas of work

  • High level of personal integrity, strong work ethic and initiative

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access

Accountabilities:

  • Ensure timely processing of premium and claims reports

  • Prepare invoices based on monthly production files

  • Reconcile current accounts due to Trisura and broker statements

  • Respond to customer inquiries via email and telephone

  • Analysis and monitoring of warranty program performance and exposures

  • Work effectively and efficiently with team members to resolve issues

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years cumulative experience in a commercial insurance or accounting related role
  • Bachelor/BBA/BComm  or related degree program with Accounting concentration
  • CPA in progress an asset
